Access Noosa
sunshine coast access guide
Everyone loves the 'Riverlight' ferry! The 90 minute (round way) trip is informative and entertaining. Noosa ferry is also a multi-award Sunshine Coast tourism winner.
Noosa Ferry offers daytime and sunset tours between Tewantin and Noosa Heads.
This relaxing stillwater journey takes you from Tewantin, the heritage heart of Noosa, past the hire boats, old jetties and new restaurants at Noosaville, close to the magnificent homes of Noosa Sound and on into the centre of Noosa Heads with it’s famous beach, shops and eateries.

The Noosa Ferry operates up and down the Noosa River and offers a smooth ride over the water.
The ferry is also relatively stable and well balanced in the water, due to its solid construction, making mobility easier than in smaller boats (where there can be a lot of surface movement).

Now you can also catch the river boat to dinner and return!
There is a ramp up to the ferry, then three steps down into the boat. A grab rail is available and the skipper is happy to give people a hand if needed.
Because of the steps the ferry is not wheelchair accessible, except with assistance. However, once on the boat, there is sufficient room for wheelchairs to go between the doorway and aisles.
The company offers an excellent service and really looks after its passengers. Provided the wheelchair user has a carer with them, the skipper will assist with a two person lift to negotiate the three steps onboard.
The best stops for boarding and disembarking are Noosa Harbour Marine Village at Tewantin and Noosa Heads (near the Sheraton Resort). These ferry stops have a floating pontoon that is easier and safer to use. It is best to avoid travelling at low tide as transfers can be a problem (especially if using one of the other ferry stops along the river).
Tickets are available onboard or from agents. An 'All Day Pass' costs $13.50 and a one-way pass $9.50. Discounted prices are available for concession holders, children and families.
