Toyota Porte Welcab with self-loading chair
- An amazingly well-engineered car that's so easy to use it makes you wonder why more vehicles don't have slide doors.
- Why would anyone want a van with the back chopped out when you can have factory Toyota engineering in a purpose-built vehicle designed for effortless operation?
- This thing really is a marvel of Japanese packaging.
- At a touch of a button, the passenger seat automatically lifts out of the car, wheels fold down before it touches the ground, where you're free to wheel the passenger away on comfortable pneumatic tyres.
- No manual lifting, no difficult transfers, and no wheelchair to fold up and load afterwards.
- There are large windows that make the interior light and airy, combined with a high seating position and factory-fitted reverse camera for visibility.
- This red rocket is easy to maneuver and park.
- 2007 build and 2012 Australian compliance.
- It's only covered 52000km and drives like new.
- Air conditioning, alloy wheels, remote locking, power windows and power sliding door for the passenger side.
- Foot-operated park brake and column shift mean clear access, plus factory-fitted floor mats make for easy cleaning.
- Unlike the drab grey of anything else we've owned, the Porte has a bright interior, which stays cooler in summer and the cloth seats are remarkably resistant to marks or stains.
- Split folding rear seats offer space to load bulky items and Isofix child seat anchors are fitted and we've used for grandkids.
- The 1.5-litre engine, (just like the Toyota Yaris) is perfectly zippy and fuel efficient, while an overdrive automatic transmission means it's as happy at highway speed as it is around town.
- We bought it in Sydney and drove to Adelaide and found it quite capable.
- The exterior has perfectly presentable factory paint with no bog, rust or accident damage. The only exception is some cracks in one rubber window strip.
- It was really a game changer for us in caring for our son, making social visits and doctors' appointments not just feasible, but actually enjoyable.
- Sadly we're only moving it on because he has progressed into a larger custom-built electric wheelchair and a van to suit.
- Mum really doesn't want to sell it but needs must.
- We can't justify it as a shopping trolley and would like to see it go to someone who can make better use of it.
- Located in Gawler we can arrange transport if need be.
- Please phone for any more information
- The car is freshly detailed and ready for a new owner to love it as much as we have.
